Bridge was born from a shared passion for engineering, craftsmanship, and cycling by Frank Gairdner and Mike Yakubowicz. After building a career launching innovative manufacturing companies—including co-founding a company that developed the world’s first frictionless trigger and later creating carbon fibre powerboats— Frank, began searching for a venture where he could be both the builder and the end user. Cycling stood out, and the realization that almost no fully carbon fibre bike frames were being made in Canada sparked the opportunity.

He soon partnered with Mike, a deeply respected figure in the cycling world and founder of Blacksmith Cycle, whose career has been dedicated to designing, building, and collaborating on some of the most celebrated bikes in the industry. The two connected quickly, sharing complementary skills and a belief that high-performance bikes could be designed, engineered, and built right here in Canada.

The name Bridge was inspired by a 19th-century quote describing a bicycle frame as “a bridge on wheels,” capturing both the engineering philosophy and purpose behind their work. Today, Bridge focuses on doing things the hard way—bringing much of the design, composite manufacturing, and process development in-house—to deeply understand every step of building a better bike. Guided by a small team built on diligence, honesty, and hard work, Bridge is driven to prove that world-class bikes can be created locally while supporting Canadian manufacturing and the cycling community.

Bridge seeks to prove to their team and supporters that they’ve done it. They’ve built the bike and will continue to do so.
